Start with the conflict, because burying it three paragraphs down would be the whole problem with this category in miniature: Dr. Martin sits on the advisory board of the company that makes what we sell. He is not an outside voice about our material. He is an inside voice about our material, and that is exactly why he is worth forty minutes.
What an inside voice is good for
There are questions only the supply side can answer, and they are the ones this site keeps insisting matter: where the material comes from, what screening it went through, what the processing standard is, what testing a lot has passed. Somebody with no connection to a manufacturer cannot tell you those things about that manufacturer. Somebody on its advisory board can.
There are also questions an inside voice is the worst possible source for — whether the category works, whether it is worth your money, whether it is right for you. For those, the affiliation is the answer, not the credential.
What to watch for
- Anything said about documentation, donor screening, or testing — that is where an insider is genuinely more informative than an outsider.
- Anything said about what a treatment does for a condition — that is where the affiliation matters most and the evidence bar is highest.
- Whether the regulatory position is stated plainly or managed. Perinatal biologics of this kind are not FDA approved for the prevention, treatment, mitigation or cure of any disease, and the honest version of this conversation says so out loud.
